· Make your bedroom exclusive for intimacy by getting items that remind you of work out of sight. For example, there should be no briefcases, files, aprons, dusters, and the like, visible in the room.
· Nature has a way to soothe and relax the mind, so bring it into your bedroom by placing fresh flowers on the North-East side of the room. The freshness and fragrance of flowers help in enhancing the feelings of love.
· Clutter in any form is akin to a jarring note in a carefully arranged piece of music. Because making music in bed is your aim, never allow clothes, shoes, papers, toiletry items, and so on to lie around in the room. Put them systematically in their respective places. A neat and clean look enhances romantic feelings.
· The head of the bed should ideally point towards the south, even though no one expects you to point your head towards the south during your play in bed! However, ensure the door to the bedroom is clearly visible from your bed.
· Although a mirror is not recommended in the bedroom and should always be covered when not in use, it enhances pleasure while making love.
· If there is a prayer corner in your bedroom, partition it out, so that you can engage in sex without getting distracted by pious thoughts
· A bedroom to the South or South-West provides stability in a marital relationship. A couple staying in this bedroom enjoys long-term physical attraction towards each other that generally translates into good physical relations. The occupants always remain in control of their lives, even their sex lives, in this room.
· South-East, the ‘Agni’ corner, is associated with heat and brings fiery passions to the fore. A couple generally desires instant sexual gratification in this bedroom. Little wonder, this direction assures an active life between the sheets! Be warned, though, that this direction can also make you short tempered, leading to frequent tiffs with your spouse. Do not make it your permanent bedroom.
· A bedroom to the North is ideal for young couples. Sex in this direction is not only satisfying, but also most enjoyable. Care should be taken in arranging the bed in this room. The headboard of the bed should not point towards the North.

A happy married life is the dream of every person. It is an ironical fact that not everyone’s marriage goes the way they had planned. There might be several reasons but it can also be due to high influence of negative energies around you. Here are some tips:

· The couple’s bedroom should not be in the south-east direction as according to Vastu it is a place for Fire. It increases the conflicts and irritation. Ideally, the bedroom should be placed in the south-west corner of the house.

· Paintings that symbolize death, quarrels, violence or any negative aspect of life are not permissible in the house.

· Knife and even scissors in the dining place or kitchen should always be kept covered. The pickles should be essentially covered as pickle display spreads sourness in relation also.

· The bedroom shape should be square or rectangular. Irregularly shaped bedrooms are not recommended.

· As for the color of the bedroom, green, light blue and rose pink are ideal ones. While light colors are preferable, avoid red.

· Single identity such as one bird, one butterfly, duck are not advisable. Prefer the pairs always.

· Avoid bringing any office work in the bedroom.

· Couples who aspire for children should avoid sleeping in a room in north- east direction.

· Do not place any mirror in the bedroom. Television and computer are also prohibited in couple’s room. It is better to cover them with cloth at night.

· Analyze the position of gas and sink in the kitchen. One represents the Fire and other Water. Their wrong placement will add bitterness in the relations affecting relations in a family.

· In the room, the bed should be in the south-west portion, with the head-side in the south direction.

· Wooden beds should be preferred, as per Vastu.

· Many-a-times there occurs friction between family members. This is mainly because of the positioning of the gas stove and sink. While the gas stove represents agni (fire), the sink stands for water. Sharp objects such as knife and scissors should be covered. The same is applicable to pickles as well. Openly placed knife and scissors or pickles creates sourness in relations.

· Couples aspiring for children should never sleep in a north-east room. The strong magnetic energies act as a barrier. Also, make sure that the room does not have sharp colors or objects.

· Never sleep under the beam. It causes unnecessary pressure and is also detrimental to health.

By implementing the Vastu remedies, numerous health problems have been mitigated from the lives of people around the Globe since human energy is affected by many things including lighting, colors, plants, the placement of furniture, by the shape and size of a building and the materials, which are used.

People working in buildings based on Vastu principles find that their thoughts are clear and creatively, make better decisions, feel happier and healthier. · Never keep your head toward North while sleeping keep towards South or East only for peaceful/ restful sleep & healthy life.

· Face preferably East or North directions while cooking eating or drinking and for better taste, digestion & healthy body.

· Never put a mirror in front of bed, cover it while sleeping to avoid bad dreams.

· Avoid or minimize the usage of T.V or computer in bedrooms, as the energy level of the room will be destroyed by the radiation emitted.

· Keep ‘Tulsi’ & Rubber plant (Ficus robusta) in house preferably in North-East side to purify the air.

· Never sit or sleep under a down beam to avoid depression, headache or loss of memory.

· Pregnant women should not sleep in South-East room to avoid any miscarriage or abortion.

· Open or use North & Eastern window much rather than South-Western windows for health happiness & harmony in the family.

· Never sleep on metal beds (Wrought Iron) to avoid any health problem related to Heart & Brain.

· A plot with all corners 90 degrees having two sides’ road front and back is a good plot.
The open space left in North and East should be more than South and West.

· A house should be designed in such a way that there is maximum entry of sunlight and proper cross ventilation. The entire opening should be made on the North and East Side of the house.

· Trees of any kind should not be grown in Eastern or Northern, North-East directions. Only small plant can be grown in North, East, and North-East. The shadow of any tree should not fall on the house.

VASTU FOR PLOT AND LANDS:

DIRECTION OF THE PLOT

· Plot facing East is good for scholars, philosophers, priests, professors, teachers etc.

· Plot facing North is good for those in power, administration and those who work for government.

· Plot facing South is good for business class and for those who work in business organization.

· Plot facing West is for those who provide supporting services to the society.

ENVIRONMENT OR SURROUNDINGS OF THE PLOT

This is also very important. If the surroundings are not good, we suffer in many ways.

· Plots that are fertile with plants and greeneries are very good.

· A river or big canal in North side and if the water flows from West to East, it is good.

· Similarly if the canal is on East side of the plot with water flowing from South to North, that is also good.

· Plots with rivers or canal flowing on West or South side of the plot should be avoided.

· Hills, hillocks, mounds of Earth, big boulders etc on the Southern, South- West and Western sides of the plot are good: in other sides, it may hamper the progress.

· There should be no graveyard, cemetery or tomb adjacent to the plot or in the front or back.

· Location of a public place of worship near the plot also affects the inmates. Such a place on the right side of a plot can cause material loss, on left may bring grief and sorrow, in the front can obstruct progress and if they are 100 feet apart, those disastrous results are minimized.

· Similarly avoid having plot near to Cinema-theatres, schools and colleges.

OBSTRUCTION IN FRONT OF MAIN GATE OF PLOT

If the types of obstructions listed below exist facing the main gate of the plot, various problems may arise as per ‘BRAHU SANHITHA’.

· Big Tree: Obstruction to the progress of children.

· Gutter or Ditch: Grief.

· Pointing corner of another building: Mental unrest.

· Water Drainage: Draining of income due to unexpected expenses.

· Straight Street: Affects longevity of inmates.

· Dilapidated House or Walls: Affect prosperity.

· Staircase Railings: May cause sadness.

· Pillars, Electric and Telephone Post: Affect females.

SORROUNDINGS AND NEIGHBORS

The surroundings of our neighboring houses on all sides also affect us.

• High-rise tall buildings should not be there In the North East side of the plot because they may cause mental unrest. However, if they are located in South, South-West or Western sides then it will be auspicious to the buyer of the new plot or house.

• Do not purchase a smaller plot in between two neighboring big plots. Similarly, do not buy a smaller house, which exists between two tall buildings. This may make the buyer poorer day by day.

CHECKING UP MATERIALS/SOIL TYPE

That comes up while doing excavation for construction. Different types of soils have different effects on the inhabitants.

GETTING RID OF ‘SHALYA DOSH’ (Soil Deficiency)

If the soil is found defective, it must be purified or cleansed before starting any construction in the plot. ‘Shastras’ have laid many ways for getting rid of ‘SHALYA DOSH’.

SIZE AND SHAPE OF THE PLOT

Bigger the size, better it is. Plots are of different shapes and sizes and they affect the inmates in different ways, for example:

1. Square (all corners straight and at 90°) shaped is very auspicious, brings health, wealth and happiness.

2. Rectangular Shaped is good and auspicious. Brings all round prosperity.

3. Circular Shaped is good for constructing circular shaped buildings only.

4. Wheel Shaped plot owner may lose financial status and face poverty.

5. Odd Shaped (irregular shaped) plot can cause all types or problems and poverty.

6. Triangular Shaped plot can affect progress and cause problems from government.

7. Pentagonal plot (‘Panch Mukhi’): Such plot should not be inhabited before making it a rectangular plot otherwise; it will bring legal litigations and false allegations.

8. Octagonal (‘Astha-Kon’) plot: Is auspicious and will bring all round prosperity.

9. ‘Simha Mukhi’ (Lion Faced) like a lion’s face wider in front: Not good for residential purposes. Is auspicious for business organization.

10. ‘Gaumukhi’ (Cow Faced) like a cow face narrow in front: Auspicious if the roads are there in Southern and Western sides of plot.

PROJECTIONS, RETRACTIONS AND CLOSING OF CORNERS

Plots are always not available in the shape of perfect square, rectangular or quadrangle. Projections means an additional space which when subtracted from the plot, makes it a regular square or rectangle. While retraction means an additional space which when added to the plot, makes it a regular square or rectangle.

GENERAL VASTU TIPS FOR PLOTS:

1. Plot should be square of rectangular. Square would be best. If it is rectangle then the ratio of length to breadth should be 1:2 and not more than that.

2. The ground level should be higher in South & West rather than North and East.

3. Plots facing North or East are better than those facing South or West.

4. A canal, a lake, river, drainage, a pond should be in North or East only.

5. Heavy construction or mountains should be in West or South of the plot.

6. There should not be any big tree in North or East of the plot.

7. There should not be any pit or well in South or West direction.

8. All four corners should be at 90 degree angles. If only North-East is extended i.e. if it is less than 90 degree, it will do.

9. All rainwater should flow from South to North and West to East.

10. South-West should be highest & North-East should be lowest in level.

11. If all the corners are not at 90 degrees angle then we should correct it before starting the construction.

12. If the dead end of a road is coming in the plot then it should be taken care of because some are good & some are bad. This is called ‘Vidhi Shoola’.

13. There should not be hills or mountains in East or North side of your plot.

Vastu Purusha

VASTU PURUSHA The name “Vastu Purusha” is closely connected with the Vastu Shastra and every now and then we use this name in all the ‘Shantikarmas’ (rituals) performed in ‘Karamkand’ (prayers). So we should know who this Vastu purusha is. There is a mythology concerning the birth of Vastu Purusha according to which Andhakasura a very powerful giant (Rakshasa) had terrorized the Devtas. Finally Lord Shiva fought a battle with Andhakasura and killed him. During this battle Lord Shiva perspired heavily. Out of the sweat of Lord Shiva this Vastu purush came into form, immediately after his birth he started devouring anything and everything that came in his way due to which Devtas were very much afraid and prayed to Bramha for help. Bramhs advised Devtas to overpower this demon and press him down (face down) into the earth and hold him there. Accordingly 45 devtas hold this Vastu Purush putting his face down and lying on earth from North East to South West. After the above incident Vastu Purush prayed to Bramha Dev for mercy in return Lord Bramha blessed him and proclaimed that the construction on the earth will only be successful when the Vastu Purusha will be worshipped and respected. In return the Vastu Purusha also promised to take care of the inmates of the house or the occupants of the land. Vastu Purusha is a man lying with his back upside and bent and his head pointing North and East respectively. The direction allotted to the land and their utility represented by the body parts of the demon. The elbows point towards North-West and South East direction respectively. His knees are touching the elbows and are pointing the directions of the elbows only. His feet and soles are joined and are pointing jointly towards South-West direction. Naval part of the demon is imagined to be coinciding with the centre point of the land and is called ‘Brahma Sthan’ the most auspicious space.

Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui

Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui:

Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui are both ancient and sacred bodies of knowledge revealing the connection between humans and the dwellings they inhabit. In Vastu Shastra, as well as in Feng Shui, the focus is on human’s well-being, which can only be achieved when we are in harmony with nature and the Universal flow of energy. What we know and understand of both Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui is still quite limited, as ancient wisdom is rarely clearly translated and applied in the modern culture. It is often stated that Vastu Shastra started with the main focus on the sacred architecture of Hindu temples, while one of the oldest applications of Feng Shui is the Yin Feng Shui - or the Feng Shui of graveyards.
There are certainly many similarities between Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra, after all, both systems are based on the knowledge of the flow of Universal Energy called ‘Chi’ in Chinese culture and ‘Prana’ in Hindu culture.Vastu Shastra, meaning science - is part of the Vedas. Vedas, or the Vedic texts, are believed to be four to five thousand years old and include sacred knowledge of spirituality, astrology, yoga, nutrition, etc.The word ‘Vastu’ can be generally translated as meaning ‘dwelling’, and the term ‘Shastra’ can be summed up as ‘teaching’. Vastu Shastra has strong influence on every aspect of human life. Let us understand how Vastu Shastra influences the personality aspect of human being as per the directions.

North-East is the place of WATER element that means due to flowing (moving) characteristics of water there is always development and progress. Abode of God provides smoothness to work, peace of mind and pleasant atmosphere to boost up performance and helps to improve knowledge. In addition, existence of living room and bathroom in North-East give strong base for success. In short, North-East gives success and progress.

When South-East of our house is balanced properly for placing FIRE element that means kitchen; it helps to accelerate the speed of success and progress. Because fire means energy which give rise to motion. This ultimately helps to achieve the objective or helps to reach our goal. Therefore, South-East gives completeness to success and progress.

South-West is a region of EARTH element. This means as per the principal of moment of inertia, higher the weight, higher is force required to move is from one place to another place. In other words, it develops an attribute of stability. (Not to move remain firm and unchanged). Stability gives rise to confidence, which helps to develop decision-making ability. This further makes you to implement the decision, which helps to develop leadership and domination attribute. Therefore, South-West is able to give us confidence, leadership decision making and dominating attribute.

North-West represents AIR element and it leads to disharmony and quarrels, which disturbs co-ordination and relationship. Similarly, waves of jealousy from near and dear ones affect the tolerance level and outmatch efficiency and productivity.

Now if we summarize above discussion, it means:

· North-East is responsible for success;

· South-East gives acceleration to the progress;

· South-West develops confidence & leadership & ability to combat on the other hand and

· North-West improves harmony co-ordination & communication skills &

· SKY/SPACE element offers maturity & ability of in-depth studies & analysis.
